Privacy Policy – Tab Book

Tab Book ("we", "us", or "our") is dedicated to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome extension.

1. Data Collection and Usage

We collect and process the following data:

Extension functionality (local only):

• Tab Data (URLs and Titles): We access the URLs and titles of your open tabs to display them in the Tab Book side panel, organize them into groups, and apply visual markers (emojis). This data is never transmitted externally.
• User Preferences: We store your created groups, saved sessions, and marker configurations locally on your device.

Anonymous usage analytics:

• User Activity: We collect anonymous usage events (e.g. "marker applied", "session saved", "keyboard shortcut used") to understand how the extension is used and improve it over time. Each device is assigned a randomly generated ID — this ID cannot be linked to you, your account, or your browsing activity.

We never collect tab URLs, page titles, tab content, marker labels, session names, your name, email address, or IP address as part of analytics.

2. Data Storage

Your groups, sessions, and marker configurations are stored locally on your device using the Chrome Storage API (chrome.storage.local) and are never synced to external servers.

Anonymous usage events are transmitted to and stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Cloudflare's privacy policy can be found at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

3. Opting Out of Analytics

You can disable anonymous usage analytics at any time: open the Tab Book sidebar → Settings → uncheck "Help improve Tab Book by sharing anonymous usage data." This takes effect immediately.

4. Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or transfer your data to outside parties. Anonymous analytics data is processed solely by Cloudflare as infrastructure and is used only to improve the extension.

5. Permissions

To function, Tab Book requires the following permissions:

• tabs & activeTab: To read tab titles/URLs for organization and grouping.
• scripting & host_permissions: To modify tab titles (adding emoji markers) on the pages you visit.
• storage: To save your groups and sessions locally.
• sidePanel: To display the main interface.
• contextMenus: To provide right-click options for marking tabs.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
